Our vision is for Gothenburg to be an internationally leading education and knowledge city. The Education Administration in Gothenburg operates within municipal upper secondary school, adult education, vocational college, adapted upper secondary school, adult education as adapted education, study and career guidance, mother tongue education, and school development.
In our work, we have a clear student focus that places knowledge and skills in a context where intrinsic motivation, co-creation, and the joy of learning are important ingredients. We work based on the equal value and rights of all people. Together, we create a work environment where both students and staff are involved and work for each other's success.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to be part of our exciting journey as we expand and develop Polhemsgymnasiet?
Currently, about 1,500 students study at the school. To enable more students to study and grow at Polhemsgymnasiet, we are increasing the number of places for the autumn term of 2025 by an additional 200 places. This expansion means we are looking for teachers who want to be part of the school's development moving forward.
Polhemsgymnasiet is located in the lively and knowledge-intensive Lindholmen and has a well-developed collaboration with its neighbors, which include other upper secondary schools, Chalmers, the IT University, and various companies. Through study visits, guest lectures, and upper secondary projects at different companies, our students are inspired, gain their own network, and learn about what further studies and qualified professions entail. We also have a broad international network and exchanges with other countries.
As a teacher at Polhemsgymnasiet, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic learning environment characterized by engagement and a high level of ambition among both students and staff. The school offers four higher education preparatory programs: the Economic Program, the Natural Science Program, the Social Science Program, and the Technology Program.
The students you meet at Polhemsgymnasiet are motivated, ambitious, and have a clear goal for their upper secondary studies. Their expectations for quality teaching are high, which both stimulates and challenges you as a teacher. The demand for admission, high admission scores, high attendance in classes, and good results from student surveys confirm that Polhemsgymnasiet is a place where students feel safe, thrive, and develop.
Based on the Education Administration's systematic quality work, the teachers at Polhemsgymnasiet work broadly on the school's development. You will collaborate with your colleagues in both program and subject working groups. You will participate and actively contribute to collegial learning. In collaboration with school management and colleagues, you will help create good conditions for the school's students to thrive, develop, and achieve their goals. You will support and encourage students to take responsibility for their own knowledge development. Mentorship is included in the role.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed and qualified teacher at the upper secondary level in at least two of the following subjects: chemistry, art, design, product development level 1, physics, English, philosophy, business economics, history, geography, leadership and organization, mathematics, natural science, psychology, religion, social studies, sociology, Swedish, and/or German.
We welcome applicants with several years of teaching experience. You see the computer as a natural tool for communication and pedagogy.
As a teacher, you have a formative classroom practice and a good ability to communicate the goals of the teaching and clarify your assessment for the students. Your expectations for each student are high, and you convey these in a way that motivates the student and gives them strength and belief in themselves. You have the ability to build relationships with your students in teaching, as you know that this is of great importance for effective learning. Furthermore, you adapt your teaching so that it is accessible to all students in the teaching group. You also have the ability to meet students in need of individual adaptations and support.
You will be part of a working team. Your ability to collaborate and actively participate in developing teaching, as well as the school's activities based on curriculum goals through systematic quality work, is of great importance. For you, it is natural to share ideas and experiences to develop the school as a whole.
